Yes, alive. I know, I know. I've not been feeling particularly contemplative lately -- real life intercedes and distracts me from my regular navel gazing. All is well, however. I have been incredibly busy with application deadlines (none of them mine, ha) looming, and since I'm now in charge of applications at the instituion which employs me, this means something more in my life than it used to.
D is going through a good deal of ugliness at his place of employment -- they are essentially trying to force him into accepting a new position with three times the work and responsibility for NO increase in pay, and his pay is pretty pathetic to start with -- and we're trying to land him a job at the school where I currently work. Won't that be cozy, heh.
In other news, I was a part of the Nightmare Boston Commute from Hell this morning. "Boo," said the snow -- "we're sneeeaking up on Boston by magically appearing from thin air in New Hampshire at 5am and throwing totally unexpected squalls through the city and the surround, thereby icing all the roads and causing (according to the news) over 150 accidents since, as we said, no one was expecting us so there were no sand or salt trucks out to stop our mad spree of destruction and chaos! Whee!"
Two hours late to work. Whee.
For Thanksgiving D and I stayed home, thank the gods. We did homemade falafel and watched the four-hour director's cut of LOTR: The Two Towers on DVD. It occurred to me that I started this diary right before Thanksgiving of last year. So we're a year old. I've thought of going back and rereading it all, but, given the year it's been, I think I may require a buffer zone of at least an additional six months before I can go back there a second time.
dwell in my past - or forge ahead!
